A New Year:2021
January 31, 2021: Here it is, the last day of the new year, and what a month it has been! On the 6th, we had the riot at the Capitol. I watched it unfold all day, online.
On to a brighter note, I went to Olympia WA to celebrate my daughter Jessica's birthday on the 26th. We ate well! Lasagna, Chicken Parmesan, cake, and pancakes with bacon for lunch on the day I left. We took long walks and one through a great blue heron rookery. We saw a most spectacular sunrise over Mt Tahoma (Rainier). We read books in their cozy living room and danced to Irish music. I got to open Christmas presents and so did Jessica and Syd. I gave Jessica a hair receiver that had been her great, great grandmother's. We both have long hair, and when you brush it, some comes out. You put it through the hole in the top and then when it is full, you can put the hair in your garden. Very good for the plants.
Last thing I did this month was to get together some art for a dear friend of the family, Peggy. Her daughter is getting a set of Peace Turtles, and Peggy chose Sunset on the Wolf River and Mother and Daughter with Angels. I am so glad to find a home for the painting on the Wolf! I painted it while on a boat with my friends. The river is winding and we were going very fast! Then we stopped and I painted while they fished. We left at sunset and it was a very memorable day. Years ago, I took a trip to San Diego to escape a few weeks of a brutal Wisconsin winter, and for part of that trip, I spent it at Peggy's home by the beach. She came to pick me up, fed me delicious meals, and gave me a bedroom. Her little 4 year old slept in her Mom's room so I could have her room. It is so nice to finally thank her properly with Art!
