Season of the Sandhill Cranes
FEBRUARY 11, 2020: February is the month when in Albuquerque, the Sandhill Cranes congregate and get ready to fly back to Wisconsin. I have seen them in fields by the Rio Grande River on my trips to visit Jody and Katoa. And when I lived in Wisconsin for 38 years, they always heralded in the early spring. Even though it still looked and felt like winter, when you heard their loud prehistoric calls, you knew that spring was not far off. Now that we live in the Pacific Northwest, I no longer see the cranes, but February brings the blooming crocus, plum trees, primrose, and heather. I couldn't be more grateful to live here!
